TExES Exam Preparation Course
Students who were admitted to the TLU Post-baccalaureate Teacher Certification Program after January 1, 2009, must take six hours of test preparation for the TExES examinations. Other current and former post-baccalaureate students as well as current and former undergraduate students in the TLU teacher education program may also take this class.
Current and former TLU students in either TLU program do NOT have to pay any additional cost for this class. Other participants will pay $50.
The course will cover the following topics:
- Introduction to the TExES program
- Websites and resources
- How to register for the exams
- Paper-based versus computer-administered exams
- Scores and score reports
- How to prepare for the exams
- Test anxiety: what it is, do you have it, how to reduce it
- Types of questions on the TExES exams
- Strategies for selecting the best answer
- Design of the tests
- Common themes across PPR and content area exams
- Lots of practice questions
- Analysis of your preparation to take the TExES exam

Monday, October 19 and Thursday, October 22 (5:30 - 8:45 pm)

To enroll, complete the enrollment form (follow the directions on the form).
Enrollment in this class will be limited to the first 20 students who submit the completed application form.

You should bring the following with you to the first class session:

Printed copy of the Preparation Manuals for your PPR and content area exams.

Copy of the samples test with your answers and score for either your PPR or content area exam. (This should be the exam that you plan to take first after the preparation class.)

Printed copy of the TEKS for your content area.

If applicable, score reports for any TExES exams you have already taken (passed and/or not passed).

Completed Participant Information form (You will receive an electronic copy of this form after you enroll.)
