Resources for the Church

Texas Lutheran University is a four-year liberal arts college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. We are a community of faith and learning. As such, it is the mission of TLU to provide leaders for the Church and for communities, now and for the future. In addition to our ministry with and for students on campus, we are called by God to minister to others beyond our campus, and to join in ministry with God's faithful people in various settings. We offer our ministry to you in a variety of ways:

Congregational Visits
TLU appreciates the opportunity to visit with congregations about the ministry of Texas Lutheran University. Staff and faculty members are available for preaching, temple talks, and visits with high school and adult Sunday school classes.  President Ann M. Svennungsen is available to preach on a very limited basis.  To schedule a visit with your congregation, contact Steve Anderson, senior vice president for university relations, at 830-372-8020 or sanderson@tlu.edu.

Music Ministry
The TLU Concert Band, Symphonic Winds, and Concert Choir are over 150 dedicated students who love to perform. Each of these groups performs both on and off campus several times a year. Small ensembles are often invited to congregations to provide music during worship or for special events. The larger groups perform regularly in the area; watch for a concert near you! (Availability of students and expenses related to preparation and travel will determine the scheduling of our music ensembles. Advance notice of at least 8 weeks is required.)
