The Admissions Ambassadors assist the Office of Enrollment Services throughout the year in introducing a positive first impression of TLU to prospective students and their families through hosting campus tours, sponsoring lunches, and coordinating campus preview events. Ambassadors play a vital role in the recruitment of prospective students to TLU.  For more information, contact Admissions. 

The Texas Lutheran University Cheerleaders and Mascot are a noncompetitive squad. The Cheerleaders are dedicated to encouraging and promoting school spirit and boosting school pride. The squad participates at all home football and basketball games, including all playoff events.

Campus Recreation provides intramural sports opportunities for TLU students, faculty and staff. Teams may be formed by residence hall members, sorority or fraternity members and campus organizations or by groups of friends. A representative must attend the managers’ meeting for a team to be included in schedule. Intramural sports activities include: Flag Football, Kickball, Beach Volleyball, Dodgeball, Indoor Volleyball, and Racquetball.

Sports officials are needed for intramural games. Some training is provided, but a good knowledge of the rules of the sport is necessary. Rosters and a $20 forfeit fee are required. Teams will not be scheduled unless the forfeit fee has been paid. The forfeit fee is refundable if the team plays all of its scheduled games.

 

The Gold Star Dance Team is dedicated to encouraging and promoting school spirit at home football and basketball games. Goals of the team include continuing to grow in number, boost school pride and provide enjoyable entertainment at Texas Lutheran sports events. The team also produces and sells an annual sports calendar available to all students, parents and faculty.
 

The purpose of Peer Mentors is to assist with the orientation of new students by serving as mentors during their first days at TLU. In order to be a Peer Mentor, interested persons must be full-time students, in good standing with TLU and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5. Applications can be picked up at the First Year and Campus Programs Office located in the ASC.
 

Every student living on campus is a member of this student-run organization that provides leadership opportunities and seeks to improve on-campus living by gathering student opinions on important housing decisions. Each area selects designated representatives to serve as voting members.

 

Every student at TLU is a member of the Student Government Association. Four students from each classification are elected at the beginning of the school year. These sixteen representatives make up the TLU Senate. An elected comptroller, vice president and president lead the Senate. Each week, the Student Senate holds open meetings to discuss student issues, plan activity-fee funded events and work to improve the campus. Since every student is a member of the SGA, all students are invited to voice opinions and concerns at SGA Senate meetings.

TLU's Campus Ministry provides a focal point for the community of faith where students:

Canterbury is the ministry of the Episcopal Church to college students. The club provides a place where students can worship together, share their faith and simply hang out and enjoy the company of other students

The mission of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes is "to present to athletes and coaches, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church." In order to best define the people God has given FCA to serve through its program, participants are to be past or present members of recognized school athletic teams or athletes who are involved either on an intercollegiate or intramural team.

 

An outreach of the United Methodist Church, we are dedicated to accepting all students into a loving and caring Christian atmosphere. As a group, we are devoted to acting justly, loving mercifully and walking humbly with our God.

The purpose of this organization is to set forth goals for those in the club to follow. We hope to achive a high standing within the University. Our mian goal is to raise money to futher our education. Any funds that are raised by this organization will be used to aid in activities such as conferences dealing with the profession and education tools accessible to all in the training room.

 

FANTA is open to all pre-health professions with the intension to guide students into the schools for their profession and help aid their choice of career for the future.

The Geography Club is a group focused on exploring the world around us and exploring how geography connects all majors together. Throughout the year they will be hiking, camping, exploring and volunteering in the local areas.

The purpose of the MAA is to advance the mathematical sciences, especially at the collegiate level.

The Philosophy Club was established to promote the exploration of philosophic and ethical study and ideas throughout the Texas Lutheran University community.

 

The purpose of Pi Rho is to promote knowledge and interest in Chemestry on the Texas Lutheran University campus.

 

The purpose of the Psychology Club at Texas Lutheran University is to encourage, stimulate and maintain excellence in every member in the field of psychology while advancing the science of psychology. Any student, regardless of major, is welcome to join.

 

The purpose of the Society of Physics Students is to assist in and to promote the professional development of physics and pre-engineering students, provide guidance and resources to its members, to extend the knowledge of physics among its students and to advance the fascination among the community in such a manner as to honor the reputation of the university, the national organization and the discipline.

 

The Texas Academy of Science is an umbrella group for the natural sciences, math and computer sciences. TAS encourages research, interaction with professors and interaction with students of different majors.Annual activities include a river clean-up, TAS convention and graduate school seminars. Membership requirements include an interest in science, math or computer science and $15 for state dues.

Alpha Chi is a coeducational society whose purpose is to promote academic excellence and exemplary character among college students and to honor those who achieve such distinction. Alpha Chi is derived from Greek words meaning Truth and Character. Alpha Chi offers membership to students from all academic disciplines and invites membership to no more than the top 10 percent of the junior and senior classes. Alpha Chi seeks to find ways to assist students in "making scholarship effective for good."

 

The purpose of Alpha Psi Omega is to stimulate interest in Theatre activities at Texas Lutheran University and to secure for the college all the advantages and mutual helpfulness provided by a larger national honor society by electing students to membership in the society of the college.

 

The purpose of the society shall be to encourage superior academic achievement among students in their first year in institutions of higher education, to promote intelligent living and a continued high standard of learning, and to assist women and men in recognizing and developing meaningful goals for their roles in society.

 

Alpha Mu Gamma is a National Collegiate Foreign Language Honor Society with 316 chapters in public and private two- and four-year universities and colleges across the United States. It offers membership to outstanding students who have completed the equivalent of two three-semester-hour college level courses in the same foreign language. The TLU chapter is Lambda Eta.

The aims of Alpha Mu Gamma are to recognize achievement in foreign language study; nurture an interest in the study of foreign languages, literature and civilizations; stimulate a desire for linguistic attainment; and foster sympathetic understanding of other peoples through the medium of languages. Alpha Mu Gamma is open to students of all foreign languages, modern or classical.

 

An honor and professional society for students of the biological sciences.

 

To provide ideals of dedication, enthusiasm and initiative at TLU through student leadership and special programs coordinated with Career Services, campus and community service projects and networking opportunities. This chapter will be an effective, contributing organization providing members with programs and activities that promote academic achievement, career development education and campus involvement.

 

The purpose of the chapter shall be to encourage higher scholarship and to recognize and reward scholastic achievement in business administration program.

 

The purposes of Lambda Pi Eta shall be to recognize, foster and reward outstanding scholastic achievement in communication studies; to stimulate interest in the field of communication; to promote and encourage professional development among communication majors; and to provide and opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas in the field of communication.

 

 

Pi Lambda Theta is the most selective national honor society of educators. Membership is a well-recognized honor that sets you apart from the crowd, and it is an easy way to gain access to professional development resources that you need to develop your role in education. PLT extends membership to students and professionals who satisfy academic eligibility requirements but these requirements are waived for National Board-certified teachers.

 

Psi Chi is the National Honor Society in Psychology. Membership is open to graduate and undergraduate men and women who are making the study of psychology one of their major interests and who meet the minimum qualifications. Psi Chi is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS) and is an affiliate of the American Psychological Society (APS). Psi Chi serves two major goals: to provide academic recognition to its inductees by membership and to nurture that accomplishment by offering a climate that nourishes and stimulates professional growth through programs designed to enhance the regular curriculum and to provide practical experience and fellowship to its members.

Participants in TLU Dramatic Media productions are awarded points towards membership in Alpha Psi Omega, the national honor society for theatre. In addition to receiving recognition, members of Alpha Psi Omega contribute to the overall health of the program by providing leadership through self-governance. Elected officers and members develop a sense of program ownership, helping support TLU Dramatic Media through involvement in fundraising initiatives, house support and strategy formation.

 

The purpose of the Bulldog Band Association is to be the governing body dedicatd to the enhancement of the Texas Lutheran University Bands.

 

 

 

The Texas Lutheran University Concert Band serves to supply both the campus and Seguin communities with meaningful and quality entertainment. Further, the members of the concert band aim to personally improve musically and spiritually through their involvement with the TLU Concert Band. Membership is open to all students of the university. The band sponsors campus concerts and annual tours. Responsibilities include five hours of weekly rehearsals plus special rehearsals and appearances. Members are required to enroll in private lessons if on scholarship.

 

 

 

Kappa Kappa Psi, the national honor band fraternity, serves several purposes. Our purpose is to promote the welfare and existence of the university band, honor outstanding band members and stimulate general campus leadership. As a national honor band fraternity, we are only open to students enrolled in band. Members must be in good academic standing and in good favor with the active members previous to initiation. Once in the fraternity, members can enjoy a brotherhood of 65,000 musicians from around the country. In addition, Kappa Kappa Psi serves as stage managers for the Texas Lutheran University Concert Band annual tour, the TLU Jazz Band, Mid-Texas Symphony, and local concerts.

 

 

Convinced that the purpose of any university is the education of the whole perosn, the sorority is an open minded association where the ingenuity of each member finds free expression. As a closely associated group, the sorority will provide services to the university in the musical sphere, and will also serve as a social center for the members.

 

Open by audition to all students of the university, the TLU Choir performs a wide range of both sacred and secular choral literature on campus and on tour. The choir rehearses four days a week, plus special rehearsals, sectionals and appearances. The Texas Lutheran University Christmas Vespers and Spring Choir Tour are major events in the life of the TLU Choir and the university. Auditions are held at the beginning of the fall semester.

TheatreXpress is an official student organization. Founded as an initiative of TLU Dramatic Media, TheatreXpress is dedicated to the creation and production of theatre opportunities, which highlight original material, multimedia, touring, and outreach. Fusing the classic model of the traveling troupe with modern technology, TheatreXpress takes the excitement of TLU Dramatic Media to audiences who request content. TheatreXpress thus complements the faculty-directed shows and provides expanded production opportunities for students.

Alpha Kappa Psi is a national business fraternity. Our goal is to provide members with taste of the real world, business life. Many professional speakers visit to talk about different aspects of business. We are involved in various community services programs such as Faculty Appreciation, Adopt-A-Family for Thanksgiving and Junior Achievement. Alpha Kappa Psi is open to all business and economics majors.

 

As an AMA Collegiate Member, students gain vital insight from industry leaders, exchange ideas at conferences and networking events, keep up with marketing trends and use job listings and other resources to help launch their careers. AMA provides relevant marketing, management, financial, advertising, and promotion experience to increase skills and values in today’s competitive environment.

 

The purpose of TSEA is to involve tomorrow's teachers today. By engaging in conferences, workshops and meetings, TSEA allows its members to get a head start into the profession they have chosen.

The BSU (Black Student Union) is responsible for increasing awareness of African-American culture on Texas Lutheran University's campus. As a service organization, BSU provides community service programs to the Seguin community. Examples include: serving as mentors to Seguin High School students, visiting nursing facilities and sponsoring Thanksgiving baskets and Christmas dinners to needy families. Current projects also include a BSU Alumni reunion during Homecoming. We are in the process of planning and coordinating a Dr. Martin Luther King celebration, Black History Month and The BSU Talent Show. BSU also plans and coordinates activities for Dr. Martin Luther King Day and Black History Month. Our motto is, "United we Stand."

 

The purpose of the College Republicans is to promote balance and civil discourse among political groups at Texas Lutheran University. In addition, the College Republicans shall foster and encourage the activities of the Republican Party, assist in the election of Republican candidates, and formulate and administer programs including, but not limited to, community service, lectures, and debates.

 

American Cancer Society Colleges Against Cancer is a nationwidre collaboration of college students, faculty, and staff dedicated to eliminating cancer by initiating and supporting programs of the American Cancer Society in college communities.

 

EnAct is the campus organization devoted to environmental issues. Some of our activities include sponsoring campus-wide recycling, environmental issues, lectures and debates.

 

The purpose of the Global Student Organization shall be to contribute to TLU campus life by creating better relations among students from all countries, helping and assisting students in terms of social and academic needs at TLU, organizing and executing International Student activities, creating better relations between TLU students and the Administration, students at local universities, and by bringing all students closer together.

 

Habitat for Humanity International is an ecumenical, Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate impoverished housing from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. The TLU Campus Chapter of Habitat for Humanity International is dedicated to raising awareness about the rising levels of poverty and homelessness. Students host educational and fund raising events in addition to working at a Habitat house site in Seguin.

The Mexican American Student Association is an enrichment group that promotes the Mexican-American culture to the TLU and Seguin communities. MASA is open to any student enrolled at Texas Lutheran University with an appreciation of the Mexican American culture. Active members must pay five dollars in membership dues for each academic semester. In addition, MASA members must maintain a 2.0 GPA.Annual Activities include the halloween haunted house, Dia De Los Muertos, Thanksgiving baskets, BSU/MASA Big Brother/Sister Mentoring Program, and breakfast for the TLU maintenance workers.

 

The purpose of Minga! is to raise funds and awareness for global organizations and do service projects for said organizations as well as local.

 

The purpose of Service Through Music is to provide TLU and the community with music-oriented philanthropies.

 

The purpose is to give praises to God through song while also being able to share what God has done in our lives with the TLU community and surrounding areas through song.

 

Straight and Gay Alliance (SAGA)

The purpose of SAGA is to raise awareness, promote equality and peace amongst peers and members of our community. To create an environment where people feel safe to come out and talk about such issues. To “fight” for gay rights and end hatred and ignorance.

 

The Gamers is a club established to provide a wholesome environment for individuals to play less phyiscally demanding games in their spare time. We are a union of students joined by a love of board games, card games, computer games, console games and even role-playing games. If you can play it and you want to play it, bring it to us, and we will provide you players. TLU Gamers also strive to provide a reasonable time and place for these activities. By keeping our meetings on weekends, we hope to makre sure our members remember to keep their homework in mind during the week, but reserve the weekends for entertainment.

 

VAST was established to provide verterans, dependents, students and faculty with the ability to actively support our men and women serving our country, as well as supporting one another in their education career.

 

The purpose of the TLU Young Democrats is to encourage voter registration, promote education on current political and social issues, provide a way for students to become involved with issues in the community and to advance the ideals of the Democratic Party.

The Lone Star Lutheran is a student-written and student-managed biweekly newspaper which is produced for the Texas Lutheran University community. The LSL promotes education through its content and welcomes student and faculty input.

Greek council is the governing body of all social greek organizations. Members are appointed through their respective fraternity or sorority. Meetings usually occur bi-monthly.

The purpose of IFC is to coordinate the overall policies and activities of the social fraternity, further relations between social fraternities, act as a medium in cooperation between the administration of TLU and individual fraternities, and to intermediate between the student body and the member organization. Activities include Fratfest and Rush.

The purpose of ISC is to coordinate the overall policies and activities of the social sorority, further relations between social sororities, act as a medium in cooperation between the administration of TLU and individual sororities, and to intermediate between the student body and the member organization. Activities include, fall gathering, spring gathering, rush, and spring formal.
Omega Tau
Founded October 20, 1958, Omega Tau is the oldest fraternity at Texas Lutheran University. Omega Tau has a great history of relationships with its alumni as well as the faculty here at TLU. The Omegas participate in Greek Games, TLU Intramurals and are proud participants of community activities. We pride ourselves in brotherhood, scholarship, integrity, and social prestige.
Sigma Phi Theta
The Thetas were chartered on the principles that no one individual should be denied the chance to share the brotherhood of a fraternity. The Sigma Phi Theta fraternity is primarily concerned with the individuality of each person and their academic achievement while attending TLU. 
Zeta Chi
Being a member of a fraternal organization does not necessarily mean fitting into a mold or having a certain look. Zeta Chi lives by its motto, "Individually we stand together." What this means is that wherever you go, or whatever you do, you will always be a part of the Zeta Chi brotherhood. 
Beta Alpha Sigma
Ten girls who wanted to pledge their friendship to each other started Beta Alpha Sigma in 1934. We are the oldest sorority on the TLU campus. From the beginning, we have worked hard to develop a long-standing run of tradition, honesty, friendship, and unity. We have one school-wide party each semester and we do various community service projects including a spring clothes drive, planting flowers on campus, visiting local nursing homes, and the beautification of Texas Lutheran University. 
Delta Alpha Delta
The purpose of this sorority is to provide entertaining social activities for members, friends and alumni. We cultivate close sisterly bonds among members and provide opportunities to develop leadership and effective group dynamics. We try to develop social, moral, intellectual, and service responsibility among members.
Sigma Delta Lambda
The mission of The Sigma Delta Lambda Sorority shall be create a sisterhood that promotes multicultural awareness and strengthens the women identity through mind, body, and soul. Our purpose is to increase interaction between our sorority, Greeks, and other underrepresented organizations in higher education, the university, and the local community. 
Xi Tau
Xi Tau was founded in 1987 at Texas Lutheran University when four women joined to create a community that would foster sisterthood, loyalty and individuality. Today, these values still stand, and Xi Tau members look forward to a tradition of lifelong friendship. Our tradition is something to be remembered and was also made in order to express the fantastic beauty as well as the rewarding challenge of sisterhood. We strive to empower all women (not just our own) to be thier best and to constantly seek persoanl growth. The strong women of Xi Tau always rise to this challenge and are forever encouraged by the love and support of their sisters.
