McMurry deals TLU Volleyball 4-game defeat

ABILENE, Texas -- McMurry pulled away convincingly in the fourth game against Texas Lutheran and defeated the visiting Bulldogs 25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 25-16 Thursday night in McMurry's Kimbrell Arena.

TLU led 10-7 in the fourth game before McMurry reeled off 18 of the match's final 24 points.

The Bulldogs, who entered the evening in first place in the American Southwest Conference West Division, dropped to 11-4 overall and to 8-2 in the ASC West.

McMurry improved to 10-8 overall and to 7-4 in the ASC West. McMurry has won six of its last seven matches.

Terah Brown led McMurry with 14 kills and four blocks. Danielle Kelton added 12 kills and three blocks.

Jamie Jahns led TLU with 11 kills and six blocks. Sarah Black added 10 kills and four blocks, and Jessica Stetler recorded 10 kills and 14 assists.

TLU setter Amanda Curry tallied 34 assists and a team-best 18 digs.

TLU continues ASC West play on Friday with another match in Abilene. The Bulldogs play Hardin-Simmons at 5 p.m. TLU concludes the road trip Saturday with an 11 a.m. match in Alpine, Texas against Sul Ross State.
