MARSHALL, Texas -- East Texas Baptist delivered the first American Southwest Conference loss of 2009 to the Texas Lutheran women's volleyball team with a 25-12, 25-16, 25-23 victory Friday at the ASC cross division matches.
At ETBU in Marshall, the Tigers rolled to the three-game conference win and moved their overall and conference marks to 9-6 and 5-1, respectively.
TLU dropped to 8-3 overall and to 5-1 in the ASC.
In the opening game of the match, ETBU posted 16 kills and just one error in 38 attempts (a .395 hitting percentage).
The Tigers finished the match with a team hitting percentage of .182. The Bulldogs managed a hitting percentage of only .072.
Kourtney Adams led ETBU with 12 kills, and Mary Morgan Swanson contributed nine kills. Jane Hays added eight kills.
TLU received 13 kills from Jessica Stetler. The junior outside hitter from San Antonio also recorded 14 digs. Amanda Curry, TLU's senior setter, recorded 26 assists and 19 digs.
The Bulldogs continue play Saturday with ASC cross division matches in Marshall against Mary Hardin-Baylor (9:30 a.m.) and Mississippi College (2:30 p.m.).
