AUSTIN – The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs remained perfect in American Southwest Conference West Division play with a five-game road win Tuesday over Concordia Texas.
TLU defeated Concordia Texas 21-25, 25-16, 25-16, 23-25, 15-10.
The Bulldogs moved to 4-0 in the ASC West and improved to 7-2 overall.
The Tornados dropped to 1-9 overall and to 0-4 in the ASC West.
Senior middle blocker Jamie Jahns (Spring/Klein Collins) led the Bulldogs with 20 kills. She added four blocks. Jahns posted a hitting percentage of .286.
Senior setter Amanda Curry, the current ASC West Division Offensive Player of the Week, contributed 48 assists, eight kills (without an error), and 17 digs. Curry’s eight kills came on 19 attempts (for a team-best hitting percentage of .421).
Junior outside hitter Jessica Stetler (San Antonio/Cburchill) recorded 16 kills, 15 digs, three blocks and two service aces. Freshman middle blocker Marcia Sagebiel (Seguin/Seguin) added nine kills (with only one error) and two blocks.
Junior libero Blair O’Brien (Austin/Manor) led the Bulldogs with 23 digs. Freshman defensive specialist Chrissy Johnson (Cedar Park/Cedar Park) produced 17 digs.
Concordia received 11 kills from Kevyn Jackson and four blocks each from Amanda Affolter and Holland Dunham. Haley Phillips and Bianca Martinez combined for 43 assists.
TLU returns to ASC West action next Tuesday with a road match in Brownwood against Howard Payne.
