SEGUIN, Texas – Texas Lutheran collected 21 hits in a 20-3 non-conference win Wednesday over DeSales (Pa.) at TLU’s Katt-Isbel Field.
TLU won its fourth straight game and improved to 10-5 overall.
DeSales, on a spring break trek through Texas, fell to 2-4 overall.
Senior third baseman/pitcher Jeremy Macklin (Austin/Bowie/Huston/Tillotson) had another productive day at the plate for Texas Lutheran. Macklin was 5-for-7 with five RBI and two runs scored. Macklin has produced 23 RBI in his last four games.
First-year catcher Landon Lee (Cypress/Cypress Fairbanks) made his first collegiate start and collected four hits in six at-bats. He scored four times and drove in three runs.
Drew Farr (Taylor/Taylor), Andrew Femath (El Paso/Montwood/Howard JC) and Joe Gentry (Houston/Westside) each had multi-RBI games. Farr was 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored, and Femath was 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. He also had a stolen base.
Gentry made his first start of the season at third base and went 1-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI.
TLU center fielder Kyle Harvey (Houston/Houston Christian) was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI.
TLU starting pitcher Louis Lee (Cypress/Cypress Christian/Eastfield JC) picked up the victory. Lee, now 1-0 on the year, had his younger brother as his battery mate. Louis Lee went six innings and allowed two earned runs. He struck out four and walked one.
Chris Brian took the loss for the DeSales Bulldogs.
DeSales had three RBI from right fielder Mike Bianca. Carson Slonaker produced two runs and two hits.
TLU starts American Southwest Conference play Concordia Texas this Friday and Saturday in a three-game series at TLU’s Katt-Isbel Field. Game one is set for a 2 p.m. start Friday. The Saturday doubleheader will start at noon.
