ABILENE, Texas – Mollie Brawner and Haylee Allen each scored 22 as the Hardin-Simmons Cowgirls rolled to a 94-62 American Southwest Conference victory Saturday over Texas Lutheran.
At HSU’s Mabee Complex, Brawner and Allen each made eight field goals for the Cowgirls, who improved to 11-3 overall and to 7-3 in the ASC West.
Brawner hit four of her five three-pointers and eight of her 11 field goal attempts. Allen also made four three-pointers (4-of-7) and was 8-for-13 from the field.
TLU dropped to 4-10 overall and to 2-8 in the ASC West.
Lindsey Newcombe added 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Newcombe also grabbed 15 rebounds and blocked three shots.
HSU won the rebounding battle 49 to 36.
TLU received 16 points from freshman Kimberly Hagan (Houston/Cypress Creek). She made three of her four three-point attempts and seven of her eight foul shots.
Hagan was the only Bulldog in double figures. Courtney Haskell (San Antonio/Southwest) added nine points and nine rebounds.
TLU point guards Jocelyn Langford (Omaha, Neb./San Antonio Clark) and Amy Doyle (Houston/Jersey Village) dished out six and four assists, respectively. Doyle also collected two steals and three rebounds.
TLU’s losing skid extended to four games. The Bulldogs finish their seven-game road stretch next Thursday with a 5:30 p.m. game at Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton. TLU will have a live webcast on www.tlu.edu/athletics.
