Hutton, Bulldogs get road win at Louisiana College

PINEVILLE, La. – Texas Lutheran sophomore guard Jonathan Hutton scored 15 of his career-high 24 points in the second half to lead the Bulldogs to an 89-76 American Southwest Conference road win Saturday over Louisiana College.

At LC’s H.O. West Fieldhouse in Pineville, La., Hutton (Austin/Lake Travis) hit seven of his nine second-half shots as the Bulldogs outscored the Wildcats by 10 in the final 20 minutes.

TLU improved to 1-3 overall and moved to 1-1 in the ASC.

LC dropped to 2-4 overall and to 1-3 in the ASC.

Senior forward Josh Scott (The Woodlands/The Woodlands) and junior post Tyler Wanek (Fredericksburg/Fredericksburg) added 13 and 12 points, respectively. Wanek and Scott added eight and seven rebounds, respectively.

Daniel Greenhouse led LC with 18 points. Josh Johnson and Ryan Meadows added 17 and 14, respectively.

TLU led 38-35 at the half and still had a three-point edge with 9:35 to play. TLU senior guard Nate Walton (Houston/Westside) started a 9-0 run for the Bulldogs that pushed the lead up to 12.

LC crept within seven points with 5:55 to play, but Scott personally put the TLU lead back to 12 with five consecutive points (a three-point play and two more free throws).

TLU continues conference play this Monday with a 7:30 p.m. road game in Clinton, Miss., against Mississippi College. MC will have live stats and an audio webcast on its web site – www.gochoctaws.com.
