Box Score

PINEVILLE, La. – Louisiana College’s 24-0 run midway through the second half erased a two-point Texas Lutheran lead and carried the Lady Wildcats to an 85-66 American Southwest Conference victory Saturday in H.O. West Fieldhouse.

TLU (1-3, 0-2 ASC) held a 52-50 lead with 12:21 to play in the game before Louisiana College (4-2, 2-2) took control. Sophomore guard Christy Pantallion and sophomore forward Tillisha Givens combined for 17 points in the key run.

Pantallion and Givens each finished with 23 points for the game. Givens added 12 rebounds (six on the offensive glass). Roslyn Wilmer was the only other Wildcat to hit double figures in scoring. She scored 12.

After shooting 40.5 percent from the field in the first half, and taking a halftime lead of 40-39, TLU dropped to 22.9 percent shooting in the second half. TLU was 1-for-11 from the three-point line in the final 20 minutes of play.

LC hit 17 of its 34 field goal attempts in the second half.

TLU first-year players Kimberly Hagan (Houston/Cypress Creek) and Pearl Kafoa (Keller/Keller Central) each scored 16 for the Bulldogs. Kafoa hit three three-pointers and added five rebounds and four steals.

Freshman forward Tamisha Timpson (San Antonio/Roosevelt) and senior post Madilyn Caran (Yorktown/Yorktown) led TLU in rebounds. Each player collected nine boards.

After ending its 31-game overall losing skid on Tuesday against Texas College, the Bulldogs tried to erase the 26-game losing streak against ASC opponents. But the Lady Wildcats offensive outburst in the final 12 minutes pushed TLU’s conference skid to 27 games. The Bulldogs did put a scare into an LC team that had posted a 59-point win over TLU in Seguin last season.

TLU will look for that next conference win on Monday in an ASC road contest against Mississippi College. Game time in Clinton, Miss. is set for 5:30 p.m. MC will carry live stats and live audio for the women’s and men’s basketball games. (The TLU/MC men’s game starts at 7:30 p.m.).
