SEGUIN, Texas – The Texas Lutheran women’s volleyball team eased to a 25-16, 25-13, 25-15 American Southwest Conference victory over Sul Ross State, Saturday afternoon at TLU’s Tostengard Activity Center.
TLU, the three-time defending champion of the ASC West Division, moved to 3-0 in the division. The Bulldogs now stand at 6-2 overall. TLU has won three matches in a row.
Sul Ross State dropped to 0-7 overall and to 0-2 in the ASC West.
Eden Denney (San Antonio/Judson/UT-San Antonio) led the Bulldogs with eight kills. Denney posted an attack percentage of .636 (8 kills, 1 error, 11 attempts).
Jordan Record (San Antonio/Warren) and Jamie Jahns (Spring/Klein Collins) each hit over .700 in the match. Record, a true freshman, had seven kills and no errors in nine attempts. Jahns, a senior, had six kills in eight attempts without an error.
Courtney Johnson, the true freshman from Cedar Park (Cedar Park), came off the bench for TLU and led the team in assists, with 23. She also served six aces.
As a team, the Bulldogs hit .484 and held Sul Ross State to a hitting percentage of .159.
The Bulldogs hit the road Tuesday for a conference match at Concordia Texas in Austin. Match time is set for 6 p.m.
