Darlene Holland is in her third season with the Bulldogs as an assistant coach for women's cross country and women's track and field. She has been instrumental in helping the Bulldogs to two national relay titles (one in the 4x400 indoor and one in the 4x100 outdoor) in women's track and field.
Holland joined Texas Lutheran after working an assistant coach at Soka University of America in Aliso Viejo, Calif. Holland graduated from Adams State College (Colo.) in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in English, journalism and communications.
While at Adams State, Holland was an All-American in track and field, an Academic All-American, and a 15-time national championship qualifier. Holland qualified for the Junior Olympics as a senior in high school in the 400 and 800-meter races.
Holland came to the TLU cross country and track and field programs with 13 years experience at both the high school and collegiate level. Holland is USA Track and Field Level 1 certified.
Holland was an assistant coach at Plattsburgh State University (N.Y.) from 1991 to 1993. She was the Plattsburgh High School head coach for cross country and track and field from 1993 to 1999. Holland then returned to Plattsburgh State as an assistant cross country and track and field coach (1999-2003).
In 2004, Coach Holland assisted with the Soka University cross country/track and field programs until she accepted the assistant coaching position at TLU.
