Schreiner sweeps two from TLU Softball

KERRVILLE, Texas – The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs dropped both ends of a conference doubleheader to Schreiner on Friday evening. Schreiner secured 9-2 and 4-1 wins over the Bulldogs.
Schreiner, clinging to the third spot in the American Southwest Conference West Division, moved its overall record to 25-12 and its division mark to 14-8.
TLU fell to 11-25 overall and to 6-16 in the ASC West Division.
Rebecca Hay and Patsy Toman each pitched complete games for Schreiner. Hay won the first contest and moved her record to 12-8. Toman improved to 13-4 with the game-two victory.
Sarah Trevino had three RBI in game one, and Ashley Bouthout added two hits and two RBI.
The Bulldogs received game-one RBI from Brigitte Neumann (San Antonio/Incarnate Word H.S.) and Alison Organ (Houston/Westfield). Organ, TLU’s senior catcher, had two hits.
In game two, Schreiner’s Lyndsie Travis belted two doubles and drove in three runs.
The Mountaineers trailed 1-0 into the fourth inning. Schreiner put up two runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth.
TLU’s lone RBI of game two came from Cindy Trevino (Galveston/Ball).
TLU concludes its 2009 softball season on Saturday with a final conference doubleheader. TLU and Schreiner are set to begin the twin bill at 1 p.m. in Kerrville.
