Women's Soccer rolls past HTU 3-0

SEGUIN, Texas – The Texas Lutheran women’s soccer team scored all three of its goals in the second half in a 3-0 non-conference win Tuesday over Huston-Tillotson.

Tuesday afternoon at TLU’s Gustafson Field, the Bulldogs received goals from Sarah Black (Allen/Allen), Kaysie Boomhower (San Antonio/Madison) and Marlena Ashby (Marble Falls/Marble Falls).

Black scored the game-winner in the 67th minute with an unassisted goal.

Boomhower and Ashby added goals in the 82nd and 83rd minutes. Fifty-six seconds expired between the Boomhower and Ashby goals.

Kristin Meloni (San Antonio/Madison) assisted on the Boomhower goal, and Boomhower provided the assist on Ashby’s goal.

TLU improved to 2-2 with the victory. HTU dropped to 0-4.

The goal for Black, a freshman, was her first collegiate goal. For Boomhower and Ashby, the goals were their first of the season.

TLU out-shot HTU 29-3. The Bulldogs needed to make just one save. Both Kim Myhre (Round Rock/Stony Point) and Ashby played in goal for TLU.

Pamela Carias collected 11 saves for the Rams.

TLU starts American Southwest Conference play this Friday and Saturday with home matches against Mary Hardin-Baylor (2 p.m. Friday) and Howard Payne (2 p.m. Saturday) at Gustafson Field.
