Women's golf 13th at Jekyll Island tournament

– The Texas Lutheran women’s golf team took home a 13th-place finish at the Jekyll Island Women’s Collegiate tournament, played Friday through Sunday at the Indian Mound Golf Club. 

Berry College won the tournament with a three-round score of 947. Twenty-two teams, most from the NCAA Division III, competed at the tournament.

The Bulldogs finished three rounds with a team score of 1,061. TLU placed behind fellow American Southwest Conference teams Mary Hardin-Baylor (9th, 1,025) and Hardin-Simmons (10th, 1,035).

The Bulldogs finished ahead of ASC schools McMurry (T16th, 1,073), LeTourneau (20th, 1,146) and the University of Texas-Tyler (21st, 1,156).

TLU freshman Angela Aufderhaar led the Bulldogs with an 18th-place individual finish. Aufderhaar posted scores of 81, 78 and 84.

TLU senior Brynn Waggoner tied for 61st with rounds of 92, 82 and 87. Freshman Carly Hansen tied for 81st after rounds of 95, 88 and 92.

Freshmen golfers Sarah Thompson and Jo Beth Wedding finished 93rd and 119th. Thompson fired rounds of 92, 95 and 95. Wedding posted rounds of 109, 104 and 104.

The Bulldogs’ next tournament is the LeTourneau Classic, scheduled for April 16-17 in Longview, Texas.
