Women's Golf takes third at UC-Santa Cruz Invite

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The Texas Lutheran women’s golf team posted a third-place team finish Tuesday at the conclusion of the University of California at Santa Cruz Invite.
At the Pasatiempo Golf Course, TLU placed behind fellow NCAA Division III schools UC-Santa Cruz and George Fox (Ore.) in the team standings. The Bulldogs carded rounds of 388 and 392 in the two-day tournament.
UC-Santa Cruz won the tournament with team scores of 363 and 358, and George Fox took second with rounds of 384 and 387. George Fox edged TLU by nine shots.
California State University at Monterey Bay, an NCAA Division II university, participated in the tournament, but the university did not compete for the team title.
CSUMB did take the first three individual places at the tournament. Ashley Dickman of CSUMB won the individual title with a two-day score of 165. She posted rounds of 86 and 79.
TLU junior Angela Aufderhaar (Seguin/Seguin) took home a fifth-place finish. She was second among all NCAA DIII golfers. Aufderhaar was one-shot off the overall lead after a first-round 85. She carded an 89 in the second round to finish nine shots behind Dickman.
Fellow junior Carly Hansen (Coleraine, Minn./Greenway) finished ninth after rounds of 94 and 89. Andrea Fernandez (Hondo/Hondo) and Meagen Fehlauer (Sidney, Mont./Sidney) placed 25th and 27th, respectively. Fernandez had scores of 103 and 107, and Fehlauer posted rounds of 106 and 107.
Sarah Black (Needville/Needville) recorded scores of 120 and 116 and finished in 31st.
