LAGUNA VISTA, Texas – The Texas Lutheran women’s golf team won the team title at the ninth annual Sen. Eddie Lucio Jr. Invitational, which concluded Sunday at the South Padre Island Golf Club.

 

TLU senior Brynn Waggoner won medalist honors with rounds of 81 and 86. She edged Texas-Brownsville golfer April Martinez by a shot.

 

TLU won the tournament title by 16 shots over fellow American Southwest Conference team McMurry. TLU posted rounds of 353 and 354 for a two-round total of 707.

 

First-year players Carly Hanson and Angela Aufderhaar finished third and fourth, respectively. Hanson shot rounds of 87 and 86, and Aufderhaar finished two shots behind Hanson with scores of 89 and 86.

 

Sarah Thompson (96-96) placed 11^th, and Andrea Ramirez (107-103) and Jo Beth Wedding (106-104) tied for 15^th.

 

The Bulldogs return to action next Monday and Tuesday for the St. Mary’s Classic at Pecan Valley in San Antonio.
