SEGUIN, Texas – Texas Lutheran senior goalkeeper Marlena Ashby (Marble Falls/Marble Falls) has been named the American Southwest Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
Ashby recorded a double-overtime shutout against Texas-Dallas and a combined shutout of the University of the Ozarks in action last week. TLU went 1-0-1 on the two-game road trip.
Ashby made seven saves over the two matches. Six of the saves came against Texas-Dallas. Ashby played all 110 minutes of the double-overtime 0-0 tie with Texas-Dallas.
Ashby had a save in each of the two overtime periods against Texas-Dallas.
In all, Ashby played 187 minutes and 18 seconds in front of the net without allowing a goal.
Ashby and the Bulldogs (4-5-3, 2-3-3 ASC) host Louisiana College and Mississippi College on Friday and Saturday, respectively, at TLU’s Gustafson Field. The matches are set to have 1 p.m. starts.

Hardin-Simmons sophomore defender Megan Ryan (Kingsville, TX / KHS) notched the game-winning goal on the road against Southwestern then scored again and added an assist in a victory over cross-town rival McMurry. Ryan also helped the nationally-ranked Cowgirls to a pair of shutouts from her backfield slot. Ryan and the ASC-leading Cowgirls have won nine straight matches.

Texas-Tyler senior goalkeeper Sam Fraser (Lindale, TX / LHS) notched two conference shutout victories last week with three saves. Fraser did not allow a score in 180:57 against LeTourneau and East Texas Baptist. The victory over ETBU went into overtime.
