RICHARDSON, Texas – Texas Lutheran senior golfer Angela Aufderhaar (Seguin/Seguin) took third place overall after Tuesday’s conclusion of the University of Texas at Dallas Lady Comet Invitational.
At Canyon Creek Country Club in Richardson, Aufderhaar finished two shots behind individual champion Erin Perry of Southwestern. Aufderhaar started the tournament’s second and final round trailing Perry by a shot.
Perry followed Monday’s 75 with a 78 on Tuesday. Aufderhaar shot a 79 on Tuesday to go with Monday’s 76.
Mary Hardin-Baylor’s Mallory McAdams jumped to second place individually with a tournament-best round of 74 on Tuesday. McAdams finished a shot behind Perry and a shot in front of Aufderhaar. McAdams opened the tournament with an 80.
Southwestern won the team title by 14 shots over McMurry. Southwestern put three golfers in the Top 10 and all five golfers in the Top 15.
McMurry, led by fourth-place finisher Monica Harris, had all five golfers in the Top 30.
UMHB, University of Texas at Tyler, Schreiner, LeTourneau and Texas-Dallas completed the tournament field.
TLU did not figure in the team standings because it did not post four scores on Monday. The Bulldogs did post four scores on Tuesday and carded a team score of 396 in the final round.
TLU senior Carly Hansen (Coleraine/Greenway) tied for 29th after rounds of 95 and 85. Freshman Jessica Villarreal (San Antonio/Stevens) was 40th with scores of 110 and 114. Rachel Feller (Austin/Westlake), who withdrew from Monday’s round, shot a 118 on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs continue their 2009 fall season with an appearance at the Mary Hardin-Baylor Fall Classic next Monday and Tuesday. The women’s tournament will take place at Wildflower Country Club in Salado, Texas.
