SEGUIN, Texas – Taylor Bontz scored with just over five minutes to play in regulation to give Schreiner a 1-0 American Southwest Conference victory over Texas Lutheran, Friday afternoon at TLU’s Gustafson Field.
Bontz took a delivery from Derek Brosky and punched a shot into the far right net.
Of Schreiner’s eight total shots on the day, Bontz’s shot was the only shot on goal for the Mountaineers.
TLU managed just one shot on goal as well. Schreiner’s Matt Johnson had one save.
TLU out-shot Schreiner 11-8.
The loss dropped TLU to 0-6 overall and to 0-3 in the ASC.
Schreiner improved to 3-3 overall and to 2-1 in the ASC.
TLU returns to action this Sunday with a road match in Sherman, Texas against Austin College. Match time is set for noon.
