UMHB men's soccer downs TLU 3-1

SEGUIN, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor opened American Southwest Conference play with a 3-1 road victory over Texas Lutheran, Friday afternoon at TLU’s Gustafson Field.

Andrew Carrasco, Trevor Shoppach, and Andrew Shipmen scored for the Cru (3-1, 1-0 ASC).

TLU dropped to 0-4 overall and to 0-1 in the ASC.

Carrasco gave UMHB a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 21st minute. Shoppach scored the game-winner in the 57th minute, and Shipman iced the match with a goal in the 79th minute.

Carrasco’s goal was unassisted. Ben Allen and Bo Baker assisted on the final two UMHB goals.

Morgan Parker evened the match for TLU with a goal in the 39th minute. Parker’s goal was assisted by Lee McMullan.

TLU continues ASC play Saturday with a 4 p.m. home match against Howard Payne.
