SEGUIN, Texas – The Texas Lutheran men’s soccer team allowed two second-half goals in a 3-2 non-conference loss to Our Lady of the Lake University.
Sunday afternoon at TLU’s Gustafson Field, the Bulldogs rallied from a 1-0 deficit to take a 2-1 lead with goals in the 52nd minute by Taylor Forseth and Morgan Parker. The goals were scored 14 seconds between each other.
Ramiro Ramirez and Humberto Saenz scored in the 63rd and 76th minutes, respectively, to give OLLU the lead it would not surrender. Saenz’s game-winner came on a free kick.
TLU dropped to 0-3 overall. OLLU improved to 2-1 overall.
The TLU goal, scored by Forseth, came off a Bulldog corner kick. Forseth finished the ball after it was deflected and bounced around the six-yard box.
Parker’s goal was assisted by Andrew Latiolais.
OLLU took the lead with a goal from Yared Temesgen in the 35th minute.
TLU had four saves from sophomore keeper Trey Tesno. OLLU received five saves from keeper Marco Herrera. The Saints also had one team save.
OLLU and TLU both registered 10 shots. Seven of OLLU’s shots were on goal. Eight of TLU’s shots were on goal.
The Bulldogs do not play for nearly two weeks. Their next match is the American Southwest Conference opener against Mary Hardin-Baylor. The match at TLU’s Gustafson Field is set for a 4 p.m. start.
