GEORGETOWN, Texas – Fifth-ranked Trinity needed a goal in the 66th minute from Ben Grossman to edge the Texas Lutheran men’s soccer team 1-0 Friday afternoon at Southwestern University.
Grossman’s goal followed a delivery from teammate Tommy Barros. Grossman’s shot beat a diving Trey Tesno, the Bulldogs’ sophomore keeper.
Trinity improved to 1-1 overall, and TLU fell to 0-2 with the non-conference loss.
Trinity out-shot TLU 13-3 and held the advantage in corner kicks 13-2.
Tesno made four saves for TLU, and Trinity’s Patrick Johnson registered two saves.
Bennett Siezckowski and Taylor Forseth registered the shots on goal for TLU.
The Bulldogs return home for Sunday’s non-conference match with Our Lady of the Lake University. Match time is set for 4 p.m. at TLU’s Gustafson Field.
