DANVILLE, Ark. – The Texas Lutheran men’s golf team posted a third-place finish at the Hendrix Spring Golf Classic, which concluded Sunday at the Danville Country Club.
The Bulldogs tied for third in the 10-team tournament field. The Bulldogs finished second among American Southwest Conference teams in the tournament. McMurry, in second position, was the top-placing ASC team. TLU finished ahead of University of Texas-Dallas (5th), Mississippi College (6th) and Louisiana College (7th).
TLU recorded a two-day total of 607 to tie Harding University for third place. TLU and Harding were four shots behind second-place McMurry and six shots behind tournament champion University of Texas-Tyler. Patriots shot the low round of the tournament, a 296 on Saturday.
Coy Beck of UT-Tyler won the individual title with rounds of 69 and 72.
TLU golfers Ryan Kiel and Neil Simpson tied for sixth. Kiel shot a pair of 75s. Simpson had rounds of 76 and 74.
TLU’s Tanner Carter tied for ninth after a 74 and a 77. Tyler Kuhn was 17th (75-81), and Eric Waggoner was 42nd (84-87).
TLU also had two individual golfers – Kerry Ondrovik and Mills Ligon – competing in the tournament. Ondrovik tied for 27th with rounds of 81 and 79. Ligon shot an 83 and an 84 and tied for 38th.
