TUNICA, Miss. – The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs posted a final-round team score of 296 and moved up one position to finish fourth at the prestigious Rhodes College Men’s Fall Collegiate Classic at Tunica National.
TLU, ranked ninth in the latest Golf World/NIKE Golf Division III Coaches Poll, finished with a two-day total of 602.
Six of the Top-15 ranked men’s golf programs in NCAA Division III played in the Rhodes tournament.
Sixth-ranked Huntingdon (Ala.) won the tournament with a score of 584. Tournament host Rhodes (Tenn.), ranked 10th, finished second at 589.
Oglethorpe (Ga.), the third-ranked team in NCAA Division III, was third in the tournament after a two-day total of 597.
McMurry (Texas), TLU’s fellow American Southwest Conference university, finished fifth (606). McMurry is ranked 15th in the DIII poll. Emory (Ga.), ranked 11th, placed sixth (609).
TLU received a pair of 11th-place finishes from sophomore Ryan Kiel and senior A.J. Vesey. Kiel posted rounds of 78 and 71, and Vesey shot 74 and 75.
Jeff Rein (74-78) tied for 22nd, and Tanner Carter (80-75) and Andrew Long (83-75) tied for 33rd and 37th, respectively.
TLU individual player Neil Simpson tied for 16th after two rounds of 75.
