TLU roars to 19-11 win at Hardin-Simmons

ABILENE, Texas – The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs are one win from their seventh American Southwest Conference West Division title in nine years after defeating Hardin-Simmons 19-11 on Friday at HSU’s Hunter Field.
TLU (27-11, 15-4 ASC West) needs just one win in Saturday’s doubleheader against Hardin-Simmons (23-15, 13-6) to claim the division crown. The twin bill at Hunter Field is set for a 1 p.m. start.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 12-0 lead by the middle of the fourth and scored in each of the first six innings. Four Hardin-Simmons errors contributed to 10 unearned runs, but TLU made all of the errors hurt by collecting 19 total hits.
Drew Farr (Taylor/Taylor) and Cody Miller (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) each homered for TLU, and Jeremy Macklin (Austin/Bowie/Huston-Tillotson) delivered four hits, three runs scored and two RBI. Miller finished with four RBI, and Farr notched three RBI.
Kyle Harvey (Houston/Houston Christian) drove in three runs and scored twice, and Chris Siniff (San Antonio/Converse Judson) produced two runs and two RBI.
Brad Orosey (Houston/Cypress Creek) struck out 11 in eight inning and improved to 9-1 overall. Sam Walker (5-2) took the loss for the Cowboys.
Jaxon Jordon had three RBI for the Cowboys, and Matt Roam scored twice and had three hits.

TLU goes into Saturday with at least the No. 2 seed in the ASC West secured after McMurry fell at home 5-2 to Sul Ross State on Friday evening. TLU can only finish as the No.1 or No. 2 seed from the ASC West. TLU will host a best two-of-three series next weekend at Katt-Isbel Field against the No. 3 or No. 4 seed out of the ASC East Division.
