SEGUIN, Texas – The University of Texas at Brownsville fired rounds of 279 and 285 Monday to take a 14-shot lead into Tuesday’s final round of the Texas Lutheran John Bohmann Memorial.
At The Golf Club of Seguin, Texas-Brownsville enjoyed a first round that had a high score of 72 among its five golfers. In the second round, the drop score for UTB was a 74.
UTB golfers Brock Crosson (1st), Chris Milligan (T3rd), Joseph Lucio (T3rd), and Markus Cavazos (T3rd) all sit in the top five with a round to play. Vince Cavazos is tied for 13th after a pair of 72s.
Crosson holds a one-shot lead over Blaine King of Hardin-Simmons. King posted a 71 and then a 70 over his two rounds.
Hardin-Simmons (578) carded rounds of 286 and 292 to hold second by three shots over Trinity (581).
Mary Hardin-Baylor (583), McMurry (584), Southwestern (586), Texas Lutheran (598), and the University of Texas at Dallas (598) maintain spots four through seven.
TLU senior Andrew Long is in 10th place individually after shooting a 70 and a 73 on Monday. Jacob Mock and Tommy Barrera are 22nd and 50th, respectively. Mock fired rounds of 75 and 72, and Barrera posted a 76 and a 77.
Bulldogs Chris Hyten and Dither Castro stand in 56th and 57th, respectively. Hyten shot 78 and 77, and Castro carded a 79 and a 77.
Concordia and the Mary Hardin-Baylor B team are tied for ninth after scores of 603. The Texas Lutheran B and Texas A&M International hold down 11th and 12th, respectively, with rounds of 611 and 624.
