 Day 1: July 2 London to Harlaxton ManorMeet at the Harry Potter famous Platform 9 ¾ at Kings Cross Station at 10:00am and travel by train to Grantham then taxi to Harlaxton College where you will be greeted by the grand valor of the Manor, the lovely grounds, and welcoming staff. After settling into your rooms and lunch, we will have:
Learning of One Another--Matters of Hospitality & Introductions Learning of Harlaxton Manor--Lecture by Edward Bujak, Professor of the British Studies course at Harlaxton
After dinner in The Refectory, you will have an interactive tour of the Manor and then relaxation in the Manor’s Bistro Bar.

 Day 2: July 3 Harlaxton Manor to Burghley House and Stamford After breakfast in The Refectory, you will take a private coach to Burghley House where you will receive a guided tour and time for exploration. A pack lunch will be provided for the trip.
Burghley House was built and designed between 1555 and 1587 by William Cecil, Lord High Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth I. With 35 major rooms, 80 lesser rooms and numerous halls, corridors, bathrooms and service areas taking up three quarters of an acre, Burghley House is “England’s Greatest Elizabethan House”. The Garden of Surprises, Sculpture Garden and Deer Park were largely designed in the 18 th Century. They all surround Burghley House awaiting your exploration and to give you a sweeping vista down to the spires of Stamford.
Stamford is “The Finest Stone Town in England”. You will have time to explore on your own sites such as the All Saints Brewery, established in 1825 that offers a brewery shop and coffee lounge; All Saints’ Church which dates back to the 13 th Century and houses the B rowne family brasses and reredos of the Last Supper; and Barn Hill, a picturesque cobbled stoned street.
Return to Harlaxton Manor for dinner in The Refectory. Free time in the evening for relaxation.

 Day 3: July 4 Harlaxton Manor to LincolnAfter breakfast in The Refectory, you will take a private coach to Lincoln, which has a long and fascinating history dating back to Roman and Danish (Viking) rule. A pack lunch will be provided for the trip.
While in Lincoln, you will be provided a guided tour of the Cathedral, which dates in parts from the 11 th Century and sits at the top of Steep Hill. You will see spectacular stained glass windows, Norman carvings, and the Honywood Library, designed by Sir Christopher Wren.
Also, you will be provided a guided tour of Lincoln Castle. Construction of the castle was started in 1068 by William the Conqueror and is just one of two Norman castles that sits upon a motte or mound. You will be able to access various towers via spiral staircases to have spectacular views of the city, the cathedra, and the Lincolnshire plains beyond.
There will be time for exploration and dinner on your own. You will not want to miss Steep Hill, the precipitous cobbled street that offers houses and shops in the Tudor or earlier architecture, including Lincoln’s 12th Century house, Aaron of the Jew’s House. You will find a plethora of stores, tea shops, and restaurants.
Return to Harlaxton Manor in the evening.

 Day 4: July 5 Harlaxton ManorAfter breakfast in The Refectory, enjoy a free day! You may want to explore the grounds and gardens of Harlaxton; relax in the Conservatory; stroll along paths to and through Harlaxton village to see the lovely houses and gardens; take a taxi into Grantham to shop and see sites such as the corner shop where Margaret Thatcher lived as a child, the Arts Centre, and St. Wulframs Church, which has the tallest medieval spire in England.
*Lunch is provided in The Refectory for those staying at Harlaxton for the day.
In the evening a banquet will be provided to round out the last few days at Harlaxton Manor. Dress is casual.

 Day 5: July 6 Harlaxton Manor to Grantham to LondonAfter breakfast in The Refectory, depart by taxi for Grantham then by train to Kings Cross Station. |
