    You will receive guidance about the following:

    • Online options for taking needed prerequisite courses
    • Financial aid and scholarships

    What will you need to do to apply to TLU and the RN to BSN track?

    Submit applications to the following:

    1. Texas Lutheran University (degree-seeking undergraduate)
    2. Nursing program RN to BSN track
  • Admission Criteria
    • Admitted to TLU as an undergraduate student.
    • Must be in good academic standing at TLU (cannot be on probation, probation continued or suspension). 
    • Graduated from an associate degree nursing program accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission or other identified national accrediting body for nursing. 
    • Earned at least a “C” in each prerequisite course with an overall prerequisite GPA of a minimum of 2.7 on a 4.0 point scale. 
    • Earned at least a “C” in each nursing course from the associate degree nursing program with a nursing GPA of a minimum of 2.7 on a 4.0 point scale. 
    • At the time of application, approximately 75 percent of the required core/general courses, including three (3) of the five (5) prerequisite science courses must be completed.
    • Unrestricted RN license in Texas.
    • Successfully completed required prerequisite courses before beginning courses in the RN to BSN program requiring a practicum.

    Applying to TLU

    Complete and submit an online application for undergraduate admission (if you are not a current student) by visiting www.tlu.edu/apply.

    • On the question that asks, “I am an incoming…,” select “Transfer Student.”
    • On the question that asks, “I plan to attend classes in…,” select “Nursing Program.”

    Consult the application checklist to identify all information and required documents needed to complete your application.

    Sending Transcripts

    Request that all official transcripts (hard copies, not electronic copies) from each college and university attended since high school be sent to the following:

    One (1) official copy to the Admissions office

    Texas Lutheran University
    Office of Admissions
    1000 West Court Street
    Seguin, Texas 78155

    AND

    One (1) photo copy to the Department of Nursing

    If you are currently taking prerequisite courses, you will need to request that another official transcript be sent to the Office of Admissions and a copy to the Department of Nursing once official grades have been posted for these courses.

    Applying to the Department of Nursing

    1. Complete and submit a copy of the “Application for Admission to RN to BSN Track” and “Outstanding Prerequisites Plan of Study” to the Department of Nursing.
    2. Submit transcripts from each college and university attended since high school.

    Unofficial copies of transcripts are accepted at the Department of Nursing, but official transcripts are to be sent to the Office of Admissions.

    The faculty at TLU are qualified to fulfill the mission of the university and the nursing program by preparing the students for professional nursing practice and assisting students in achieving their academic goals. Their backgrounds are diverse with most holding doctorates in nursing or related fields of study. Upon admission, every student is matched with a faculty member who serves as an academic adviser until the student's graduation.
