The minimum scholastic requirements for consideration of an application for enrollment in the professional curriculum at Texas A&M University is the satisfactory completion of the pre-requisite courses listed below; however, students are encouraged to complete a bachelor’s degree to enhance their chances of acceptance to the professional program, and Graduate Record Exam scores must be submitted. Pre-professional courses must include the following: BIO 143,144, 242, 341, 437, 414; CHEM 143, 144, 248; MATH 231 or STAT 374; PHYS 141, 142; ENG 131, 132, 335 plus any English course with “literature” in the title (e.g., ENG 233 or 235); COM 374. In addition, a course in Animal Nutrition is required. There is no equivalent at Texas Lutheran; however, members of the Health Professions Advisory committee have information about schools from which you may take acceptable animal nutrition courses either in person or by correspondence.

Students must also be able to show evidence of working with a practicing veterinarian.

The GRE is required for admission to veterinary school.
