Community Education & Summer Programs
Texas Lutheran University partners with the College Board® to offer AP® / PRE-AP® workshops four days long each. Award-winning consultants approved by the College Board teach intensive, subject-specific courses that provide support and professional development for new and experienced Advanced Placement teachers at both the middle and high school levels. Classes are small and serve as a forum for the exchange of ideas and information about AP, building success in the classroom, and vertical teaming.
Summer Scholars Academy (SSA) is a two-week residential program offering university-level coursework for transferable college credit to academically gifted high school students. Small classes taught by select TLU faculty, field trips, evening activities and a group service project offer students an opportunity to experience college life firsthand.
Band and orchestra students at the middle school and high school levels are invited to attend TLU’s Summer Music Academy (SMA). The week-long residential or commuter camp offers electives in a variety of interesting and applicable areas. Students also have the opportunity to take private lessons with university instructors and participate in evening social activities.
TLU offers summer swimming lessons, privately or in a group, for 9-month-olds through adults. Private lessons take place May through August and group lessons are held in the mornings and evenings in June and July. Mabee Pool offers memberships to the community and is available for party rental.
TLU Athletics offer summer sports camps for several different sports and age groups. For more information about this year’s camps, visit tlubulldogs.com/summercamps.
